Associate Research Scientist

Position summary:

We are seeking Associate Research Scientists working in seven strategically selected fields.

Associate Research Scientists have opportunities to work in an active research environment with highly-inspired people, well-equipped research facilities and strong support from the institute. Besides their research, they are required to participate in applying for funding, teaching and supervising students.

Associate Research Scientists are strongly encouraged to work in a research group of the institute. Therefore, if their expertise fit any of our research groups, it is an advantage. But they can also work independently on their own topics in collaboration with on- and off-site researchers.


The work of an Associate Research Scientist must be based at Phenikaa Institute for Advanced Study. The position is full-time with a competitive and negotiable salary. The initial contract is 5-year long with regular review, and there is a possibility to extend to non-term-limited appointment after that. The Associate Research Scientist can be reviewed for promotion and support to develop his/her own research group. Interested scientists can contact us directly the PIAS director (Van-Nam DO) via



  • Conduct research and develop experimental and theoretical methods and techniques in relevant fields
  • Publish research results in high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals and present them at scientific conferences, workshops, and seminars
  • Participate in applying for research grants


  • Fulfill the teaching requirement: at least one course per semester
  • Supervise/Co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students

Other duties

  • Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, conferences held by the Institute
  • Support other scientists in the institute in the research of relevance
  • Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Institute



  • Ph.D. in a related field
  • Ability to use English for writing papers, giving talks and communicating with co-workers


  • An excellent research record in scientific publication
  • Postdoctoral experience or equivalent is a plus
